reaction to Mooji´s "invitation"

I just listened to Mooji and I loved the experience for the umpteenth time, but I cannot help but wonder afterwards. How can it be, that a group of people will say the same thing. You might believe it´s just peer pressure, but watching this, it seems more. My own personal answers aren´t any different, when I´m into it. The amount that I agree with the group is a measure for how deep my meditation is. But the doubts come back. When you ask Mooji, he just says, keep practicing. But that´s probably because he didn´t start out as a sceptic. He started out as a devout Christian, and I believe he´s still steering towards this, which is where my resistance stems from the most. In the beginning it was fear of disappearing, but I quickly stepped over that. But now a subtler fear is rearing. A fear of a way of thinking, causing me to dismiss the experience.. But I don´t want to be guided by fear. I want to understand. ´Could this isness be captured in some way?´ And everybody answers ¨No¨. ...

Risk, chance and illusion

When I make a website for someone, people who are scared of hackers usually tell me: ¨I don´t want to run any risks!¨ This is a statement I can only dismiss logically. If you don´t want to run any risks you are basically not going to get what you want. This is because people misunderstand risk and chance. Risk is always present, even when you spend the day in bed with a blanket over your head, there is still a chance you might die, get burgled, get sick etc etc. So in my answer I have to allow for that fact and don´t go logical on them.. Instead I tell them how low (or high, but in these type of situations people want you to tell them how low..) the risk is of using a website in the right manner and what behaviours will increase the risks. So basically we have a psychology that wants to be reassured. We don´t need another thing to worry about. But if you bury your head in the sand, a lion might eat your ass. And worrying to much will lead to an early grave because of stress. ...

The answers to ´wrong´ questions

Mostly nothing.. no touch Matter seen on an atomic level is mostly empty space and the atoms themselves are mostly empty space. Bizarrely, this means nothing ever touches anything else (In the sense that atoms or molecules would ´bounce´ of each other. What happens when two objects bounce of each other is that an enormous amount of small magnetic fields interfere and change speed. But atoms never ´meet´. This trend of mostly nothing is also seen in space. It seems there is predominantly nothing in the universe and really very little everything. This makes the way we usually think about what happens in nature wrong. It´s not logical matter can ´hit´ other matter, it´s quite surprising. There is not really a reason why matter shouldn´t phase through other matter, atoms just moving aside a little. It just doesn´t seem to happen. This makes almost every question we ask about the phenomenal world subtly wrong. Entropy & Time Why does time exist? Entropy according to the second ...

The Challenge

After re-reading my last post (¨the truth¨)  and sitting a few hours with my dying step-mother in the middle of the night, I felt the need to condense it and phrase it as a challenge. The challenge (v1.0) Nobody can say anything about the experiential universe, that will always be true, unless it is this statement in different words. The game OK, it´s like a little game. The rules are clear from the one statement (and maybe I´ll have to alter that statement a little in the future, but I now think it´s a good 1.0 version of the statement. From v0.9 I added the unless, because else the statement is a paradox and would actually be proved by disproving it. That didn´t seem fair. So what has to happen to falsify this statement is: Someone has to say anything about experience that will be true in any context. Now in the last post I talked about context and how truth cannot exist without one. I truly believe that. I think replies will mosty be about abstractions (...

Truth

THE TRUTH ABOUT TRUTH Ok, I'm spewing A LOT here. If you need a break, follow some of the links and check them out. Everything I say is verifyable. Either by looking at it and thinking: is that true for me? Or by looking up some piece of video or googling some term.. Truth can ONLY exist in a context. Change the context and any truth disappears. If you don't name your context, that is a recipe for suffering. It can make it seem you are speaking an ultimate truth, something worth believing in even without context. There is NO SUCH THING. There is judgements and opinions, facts don't exist. (except in a context and contexts aren't real..) What REALLY is there is mostly your judgements about yourself and your opinions about your opinions.. To make it a little less abstract: 1+1=2 is only true in the context of math and almost nowhere else. In the context of a heterosexual relationship -to name one at random- 1+1 is how babies are made and used to become an un...

How to get there, Self enquiry

Self enquiry.. Ask yourself: What am I? Your body and mind? If you think you are the body, what does that entail? The body is always changing. If anything you are DNA, more than you are your body. Your body is made up of cells, head to toe. Different kinds of cells for bones, nails, lungs, fat, etc. Your DNA tells your cells, what cells to kill and what new cells to turn your food into. And it tells the cells how to repair themselves ehrn damaged. Your body isn't always made up of the same cells, your cells aren't always made up of the same molecules and your molecules aren't always made up of the same atoms. You are only your body on average. But you are not just your DNA. You body is a dynamic balance that we think of as constant and so is your mind. If you think you are your mind, what does that entail? The mind is always changing. If anything you are your personality, more than you are your mind. The personality is how you react. Your mind is made up of tho...
